S E V E N Ways Jesus Bled & Died for You

At the beginning of the Bible in Genesis 2:2–3 it mentions the number seven for the first time when God rested on the 7th day having made everything prior in six days. Seven is a special, holy number because God blessed it and rested on the 7th day.

Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Seven means finished, completed and divine protection. In the Bible the word seven is mentioned 735 times; seven-fold, 6 times; and seventh, 119 times with a total of 860 times.

The foundation of God’s Word is based often on the number seven. There are seven days in a week, seven churches of Revelation, 7 seals, 7 trumpets, 7 bowls, 7 deadly sins, 7 years, 7 ears of fat corn, 7 ears of skinny corn, 7 fat cows, 7 skinny cows, 70 weeks of Daniel, seventh day, 7 times, etc.

In Nature (physics, chemistry, music) there are also many examples of seven. There are the 7 basic musical notes per octave, 7 colors from a white light passing through a prism, 7 Crystals with 7 different shapes (Isometric, Hexagonal, Tetragonal, Trigonal, Orthorhombic, Monoclinic, & Triclinic), and the Periodic Table of Elements has 7 levels of periodicity.

In the book of Leviticus, chapters 4 & 8, when the priest sacrificed an animal for the forgiveness of sin, he dipped his finger in the bull’s blood and sprinkled it on the altar 7 times before the LORD.

After Jesus died on the cross He had given His body and blood for the forgiveness of our sin in 7 diverse ways and 7 places.

#1. Jesus shed His blood in the Garden of Gethsemane to Redeem our Will. Jesus can do His will on Earth through us when we yield to Him through the Holy Spirit.

John 19:44 And being in agony He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was as if it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. He asked His Father if there was another way. No answer meant no.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall KEEP your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

#2. Isaiah 53 said Jesus would be bruised (to bleed inside the body due to harsh blows on the head and beating his body) for our iniquities (sin) which are inherited sins, weaknesses, addiction, & diseases.

Matthew 27:30 And they spit on him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

Mark 14:65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy, (meaning guess who hit him): and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

#3. At the whipping post, Jesus allowed the shedding of his innocent blood by a soldier who beat the front and back of His body with 39 stripes from a leather whip sewn with broken pieces of metal, glass, and rocks so the curse of sickness and disease could be broken off us.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed.

I Peter 2:24 Who his own self, bares our sin in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes we were healed.

#4. The blood Jesus shed from the crown of thorns placed across his brow was to break the curse of lack and poverty for us.

Mark 15:17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head.

Genesis 3:17–19 Cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life; thorns & thistles it will bring to you & in the sweat of thy face shall you eat bread.

Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…

#5. Nails pierced Jesus’ hands to restore dominion to the works of my hands. My hands are His hands here on the Earth.

Psalm 8:6 Thou made him to have dominion over the works of thy hands.

Psalm 7:3 O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;

Psalm 22:16 …they pierced my hands and feet.

#6 Nails pierced Jesus’ feet to restore dominion to my walk on Earth. My feet are His feet.

Psalm 8:6 …thou has put all things under His feet.

Romans 13:13 Let us walk honestly …

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

#7 A spear pierced Jesus’ side after He already died from a broken heart to heal my broken heart.

John 19:34 …the soldier with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came out blood and water.

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saves such as be of a contrite spirit.

Isaiah 52:14 As many were astounded (shocked, numb, horrified) at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man and his form more than the sons of men.

I use this as a guide when I take the Lord’s Supper at home. I use 7 oyster crackers or one Ritz or a saltine cracker, depending on what I have on hand. I use a whiskey shot glass for the grape juice.

Read #1 aloud, meditate, pray, eat, drink, praise.

Repeat same with #2 — #7

The more often you take the Lord’s Supper the closer you get to Jesus & feel His loving presence and hear Him better.
